Abstract


Unusual Carbenes: 2,2?-Bipyridine and 1,10-phenanthroline are capable of coordinating to iridium as monodentate N-heterocyclic carbene ligands stabilized by NH???N bonding. This reactivity leads to complexes like 1 and their analogues with 2 as the carbene ligand. [Ir]: [hydrotris(3,5-dimethylpyrazolyl)borate]iridium.
