Abstract

The product design is performed from different perspectives using various methodologies, among them is the design for manufacturability, which is the process of designing parts, components or products for ease of manufacturing with an end goal of making a better product at a lower cost, so it requires special attention in the manufacturing resources and operating conditions as these affect the cost, time and quality of the products. Operating conditions are an important element in the selection of manufacturing equipment both must be selected to meet design specifications, production requirements and a balance between production volume, cost and quality, for this is requires concurrent work. Currently there are many manufacturing practices and studies where resources and operating conditions are indicated for a large amount of materials, despite of this should be selected within a wide universe of data that contains a variety of correct solutions and there may be better ones than others, so you need to know what the optimal. In this work is presents the optimization of operating conditions for a turning process using the NSGA II algorithm (Nondominated Sorting Genetic Algorithms) and get the best compromise between the cost, time and quality of a product. The usefulness of the work is illustrated by a case study.
